Nicknames have given me a whole new perspective on myself. 4 times out of 5, I hate them!
My mom and step-dad called me Whiner- I guess I whined a lot trying to get my way.
My dad called me Sunshine- one of the few I like.
In first grade, my nickname was Mardi Fardy or Tardy Mardi, and no it wasn't because I farted a lot or that I was tardy. They were just good at rhyming.
At Oakcrest, they decided to nickname me Spaz.
High School was Fat Tuesday and Mardi Gras. Mardi Gras has stuck and I love it.
In junior high, my brothers' very hot friends nicknamed me "Woolly". Come to find out it was because I had very hairy upper thighs. It was peach fuse, I thought you didn't have to shave blond hair, boy I learned quickly that I was wrong. They called me that for years and had no problem telling everyone why.
In college, I had to ask a bunch of hot boys I was boating with to drive me back into the dock so I wouldn't crap my pants. When they dropped me off, I sprinted to the bathroom for two reason, they were wasting their gas and time waiting for me, AND I was worried I wouldn't make it (it was a parasite!!). They gave me a nickname and weren't afraid to tell everyone why, it was "Sprints".
My roommates nicknamed me Mardi Party, but later took it away from me because I didn't do the name justice.
Jer calls me Babe, which is my favorite. Sweetie sometimes too, but for some reason, it hasn't grown on me.
BUT- The best nickname people have given me, that makes me feel like they really are comfortable with me, is Mard. Usually when people use it, it just comes so naturally!
What is your favorite nickname people have given you?

That's so fun! I love that you shared all the stories too! Nicknames really are interesting, it's a bummer they are not so nice sometimes. Usually, I think they are fun though. I have a few, but I'm not brave enough to share them, really. My brothers always called me "Chick" when I was little & it's stuck...only they can call me that though & I really like it when they do.
I call Mikel "love" more than his name...it almost feels weird to call him by name.
I feel the same way about Nic as you do about Mard. It's not something I tell people to call me...it only happens when they are comfortable enough with me & it is a really friendly, warm feeling. Overall, I really like nicknames...they build character, right? ;)
I am widely known as Jesse Messy or some people like to shorten it and just call me Mess. Josh calls me babe, and I too, love it. My grandpa called me punkin butt and button hook. I loved both of those just because I loved my gramps. Nicknames are fun! I love that you remember all of those. I can't remember all of my nicknames, I'll think about it.
I love it Mardi!! Your post cracked me up!!
Let see, what are some nicknames I have been given.
Jessie Cannonball has been a HUGE ONE!!
(Maiden name is Cannon)
Ill have to ponder up some more and get back to you!
Haha 'sprints'!
You could've been squirt instead of sprints. That would've been really bad!
i had a lot of nicknames growing up too! the one that makes me laugh the most is "etta-wetta-bedda"...i had a little porblem wetting the bed. lets just say i wasnt as quick to potty train as the other kids and my cousins/siblings learned that the hard way:)
I like mardi fardi haha. Kidding, kidding. I actually caught myself calling you Mard the other day. My fam and Ryan usually call me Shells, Bell, Shell, nothing too fancy.

Mardi Gras is what Nick n Kaylee put in their cell phones for you. :) Ur such a good friend- thanks for checking in on me- I really appreciate it!! Can't wait to see you- I could use a little Mardi lovin'. :) Nick names build characters.... I agree- my Nick names here:
